So what was bugging me about my Chilled Into Unconsciousness blog?
What was the message I neglected to nail down?
It was this: that once I became aware of the “surprise” food in my cupboards, fridge and freezer,
once I became aware of my ever-increasing-
wish for carbs and sugar, I had a choice. I could continue building that
imaginary “protective” layer of fat or throw those bags of cookies out. (In
fact, the day after writing the blog, I took them to my knitting group where
they were devoured.)
Awareness is powerful stuff. It gives us a gift, the gift of
choice. Noticing what we are doing offers us the opportunity to alter an
unhealthy pattern before it is fully imprinted. If we don’t notice, if we are not aware, we
will go blindly forward—as I might have done—until, as I wrote, my jeans
refused to zip.
There you have it. Be awake! Be aware! Notice everything!
